The graphic representation for the documentary 'La distanza' draws inspiration from its narrative, a result of ethnographic research carried out in 2020. It offers a glimpse into the lives of nomadic shepherds in the lower Po Valley. Preserving tradition amidst modernity, they navigate a concealed, anthropized territory, enduring globalization's challenges. Against marginal landscapes, their familial bonds testify to resilience.
The artwork captures this essence, inviting viewers to explore the allure of nomadic shepherd life. It reveals hidden stories, offering a portal into the film.
CONCEPTUAL
The poster design features a main illustration of a lamb, the documentary's leading figure. Within the lamb, a shepherd's camper is depicted, casting a long shadow to the left, symbolizing the journey. This juxtaposition captures the bittersweet essence of the shepherd's trip, from pastoral landscapes to the stark realities of the slaughterhouse. Inscribed within the lamb in Arabic script is 'inshallah.'
The pastel colors of dark blue and peach pink, along with the grain texture, evoke a sense of quiet strength and subtle poignancy, further immersing the viewer in the emotional depth of the narrative.
Through minimal shapes and thoughtful composition, our poster encapsulates the complex journey depicted in 'La distanza,' introducing viewers to its narrative.
